Marriage is a Vocation, Right?

I wrote this for my parents many years ago. Marriage is certainly not the only honorable calling, but for those who are called to it, it is certainly a school of sanctification. 🙂

Thirtieth Anniversary

Deep is the river, though it silent flows;
Full is the flower, and passionate the song
Which, sung for all time, never lasts too long,
Nor fully captures what each lover knows:

That joy is never wholly lived alone,
And grace is pain and gift and sacrament;
As bread and wine together we are spent,
And in each other we are most our own.
