Emotions Into Words

Emotions Into Words

I have been searching for the words to express my feelings about the death of Osama Bin Ladin.  Some way to put my emotions in a tight little bundle.  I was shocked at first, then as the information settled in, I became anxious and worried about the potential backlash.  I worried about my son at school, being one of only a handful of Muslim children in his school, and my daughters, who attend a full-time Islamic school. I was worried about my husband at work, and I hoped that he would be busy enough that no one would have time to bother him.

I have avoided discussion or comment as much as possible today, but when I came across this quote from one of my internet friends, it seems to sum up my feelings.

‎”I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” -MLK Jr.

I hope that you and everyone you hold dear is safe from harm tonight and in the days ahead.
