At this year’s Islamic Society of North America convention, Muslim attorneys and activists addressed the lack of Muslim vested interest in eliminating mass incarceration. The panel were representatives of the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative (Muslim ARC). Moderated by the Muslim ARC executive director Namira Islam, speakers: Fahmi Islam Jones, Margari Hill, Khaled Beydoun, and Jihad Saafir addressed challenges of incarcerated Muslims, Muslims released from the criminal justice system, and the need for Muslim communities to become more involved.
