We have seen a vilification of BLM movement in the past few years. This isn’t new, this criminalization of non-violent resistance has been used to dismantle black liberation movements throughout history. With these executive orders and increased focus on “protecting” law enforcement, it puts movements for black lives, indigenous lives, latinx rights in jeopardy.
Muslims exists in these social movements as members of the Black community, Latinx and other oppressed racial and ethnic groups. One-third of the Muslim community is Black, and any new oppressive restrictions on the organizing for black liberation affects the American Muslim community.
