Juneteenth is a day of remembrance, reflection and renewal – a day to celebrate our ancestors and re-commit ourselves to a cause which is ongoing. Our cause must be one of honoring our own who have resisted both mental and physical bondage, striving for justice, and holding this nation accountable for its betrayal, its lack of repentance and it’s ongoing violence against Black folks.
