I Kissed A Guy And I liked it! – National Action Day

I Kissed A Guy And I liked it! – National Action Day August 1, 2012
A number of months ago some friends and myself established the  “Old White Guys Confronting Privilege in America Face book page in response to the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Across America “old white guys” put on a Hoodie and took a stand opposing racism.
The idea behind this action was two fold and simple. First as individuals of privilege we have a responsibility to stand for justice and make our voices heard. Second, Historically ,it is often when those of privilege join a civil rights cause that real change begins.
Today the bell tolls for action again. Recent bigoted remarks by the CEO of Chick-Fil-A have created a firestorm that demands action. On Friday August 3 the LGBT community has called for a “National Same Sex Kiss Day”.  Members of this community will kiss at Ckick-Fil-A locations across America.
This is a call for all of us “Old Straight White Guys”, and anyone else who wants to join in, to once again confront our privilege and make a statement in support of love, tolerance and the rich fabric of diversity in America.
To join in, bring along a friend of the same gender and get a photo of a kiss on Friday August 3, 2012. Post the photo at:

Lets see how many straight white men, and others, we can get to come forward and participate in this “I Kissed a Guy and I Liked It”, national action. Join me in this attempt to manifest real change in the world.

I Kissed A Guy And I Liked It

Because:

I stood for my beliefs
I supported the concept that all Americans are deserving of respect
I am not homophobic
I believe that actions speak louder than words.
