The e-book I recently wrote with Jared Byas, Genesis for Normal People: A Guide to the Most Controversial, Misunderstood, and Abused Book of the Bible
, has just come out with one very significant change. Hidden inside six of these e-books is a magic e-ticket. If you happen to find one of these e-tickets, you will invited on a tour ….wait …sorry.
Not sure where that came from.
Let me try again. The change is the addition of a study guide for group discussions.
We came to learn that some of our readers are working through Genesis for Normal People in groups. We thought it would be helpful to have some type of guide for group discussions, especially to help group leaders as they prepare and guide these groups.
So, that is exactly what Jared and I did.
We even changed the title: Genesis for Normal People (Study Guide Edition): A Guide to the Most Controversial, Misunderstood, and Abused Book of the Bible. Predictable but functional.
For each chapter we have written:
A Summary, briefly re-capping the main points,
Discussion Questions to help spark conversation, and
Notes for Leaders to help them prepare and also lead the group in conversation.
“Hey, Pete,” I hear you saying, “I already bought this amazing book. Even though it’s so good I feel duty-bound to buy multiple copies, can I still get the guide as part of my original purchase?”
Glad you asked. Yes you can! Amazon will be emailing those who bought the first release of the book and you will be able to download the guide free of charge. (We are told, though, that it may take several weeks to get that email. Amazon is a busy outfit.)
The next logical step, of course, is negotiating movie rights, and we will keep you updated on that. We are trying to see if Jim Carrey and Roseanne Barr are available to play Marduk and Tiamat, respectively, and whether we can get permission to film the Sodom and Gomorrah sequence in downtown Philadelphia. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
