The “thorn-blooded witch” is a term used by the author Raven Grimassi to describe his tradition of Old-World Green Witchcraft.

This book traces the history of green witchcraft back to its early days in the Middle Ages and the Roman Empire.  This book of traditional witchcraft places particular focus on veneficium, the use of poisonous herbs associated with witchcraft in ritual.  Grimassi also goes into great detail on various other traditional witching herbs, such as vervain, their history and ritual usage as well.  He also presents some unique lore that I have not come across before.  Some of the unique concepts that he elaborates on and also new ideas detailed I his work.  Some of the concepts he introduces are and elaboration of the plant spirits of old world witchcraft, star pentacle and various plant seals of his own design.  This is a great beginner book, and also unique enough that it will keep the attention of a seasoned practitioner.  Grimassi’s language is practical and easy to understand.  The information he presents is well researched and down to earth.
