Three Post Election Take Aways

I’ve actually been up for three hours but there was some school work to catch up on and all the children are crying. Had a blast live logging last night. I’m sure this brave new reality will provide me with more opportunities to say a whole bunch of stuff that doesn’t really need saying.

I have three thoughts before I carry on with my day.

One

I’m really tickled that I totally called this six or a hundred months ago. I know no one remembers or cares or believed me, but on Easter Sunday, as I downed a second glass of wine and waved my exhausted arms around, I said several serveral times until I believed it myself,

“You cannot kill 50 million babies and end up with anything less than Trump.”

You can’t. You really can’t. What is so fascinating is that Trump wins as someone for whom some prolifers voted as the prolife person. That is so amazingly interesting to me. Trump is Not a Good Man. And he will not do good for America. But we deserve him and we deserve to be embarrassed by him because he perfectly reflects the American Soul into the world. We have killed So Many Babies. This is just and right.

Two

Its so great that Mrs. Clinton lost. If there are small mercies and true justices in life, one might be that Mrs. Clinton, who has broken so many laws, who has only been for the death of the babies all the time, should lose. This is really a moment for rejoicing.

Three

This is going to be bad for the visible church, though not for the invisible one. Someone on Fox last night looked down at a screen and said, wow, Trump has gotten more “Evangelical” votes than Romney or McCain ever did.

Now, I didn’t like Romney nor McCain. I really didn’t believe either were conservative or pro-life. I did not, then, out of desperation run out and vote for Trump, which it seems many others did. The word “evangelical” has really been emptied of its cultural or theological meaning and I intend to spend the next four days trying to think of something to call myself, to Self Identify as. I’ll be looking not for new pronouns, but new adjectives.

But hey, I think this is really a moment of hope. I think God cares about America. I think the stench of the death of the unborn has risen up into his nostrils. The blood is crying out from the ground. I am lifting up my head, looking up to see the Salvation of the World. Trump isn’t Cyrus ya’ll. But his heart is like a stream in the hand of the Lord. Wherever it flows it will be directed by God himself, and that should be something that comforts and consoles every single Christian around the world.

Have a nice day! Or not, as your heart leads you.
