A couple months ago Pence and Ryan were telling us there would be no “deportation force.” Time after time they insisted that, in the words of Paul Ryan (R-Galt’s Gulch): “Everybody thinks there’s some deportation force that’s being assembled. That’s not happening.” He also added: “I’m here to tell you, in Congress, it’s not happening.”

But they lied.

Lies They Tell
Lies They Tell

According to a Department of Homeland Security report plans are being made for just such a force. The report details plans for assembling the force and discusses resources the agency has already identified.  The Washington Post tells us:

“The agency has already found 33,000 more detention beds to house undocumented immigrants, opened discussions with dozens of local police forces that could be empowered with enforcement authority and identified where construction of Trump’s border wall could begin.”

One troubling aspect of the plans is that, contrary to the nonsense about Trump and his appointees being the “organized” business people Trump promised would make government run better this new squad of ersatz Brown Shirts is going to skimp on training, physical requirements, and vetting, you know, normal things for hiring law enforcement personnel but typical for a fly-by-night military force. What could possibly go wrong? A huge, poorly organized, poorly vetted, well armed military presence roaming the nation dragging people out of their places of work, their homes, and their schools couldn’t possibly be a problem. Right?

To lay the groundwork for 15,000 additional members of the deportation force (at a cost of $3 Billion), Trump has expanded the number of people who can be rounded up and deported. This increased number creates an unnecessarily higher number of people to be deported and thus becomes “proof” that these measures and personnel are needed.

During the election Trump promised that only the “bad hombres” would be deported. Many who supported him are finding out he lied and people with businesses, families, and no criminal activity are being deported also. One family caught up in his madness supported Trump.

“The Beristains, she said, were all for deporting illegal immigrants who were criminals, bringing drugs or abusing the system, “but not to get rid of all the people. This is not what America is, the land of the free.””

More people need to be worried. Most immigrants are hard working people who contribute a lot to American society. With his new under-trained and unvetted “deportation force” It is inevitable that most of the people are anything but the “bad hombres” Trump spoke about. They will be decent people seeking the life we all want for our families. And they will be in the cross hairs of a military force with one objective: round them up and ship them out.

None of this is good for America.
