Arkansas Governor’s PR head bashed Sister Helen Prejean’s defense of life against planned executions, spending part of Easter Monday tweeting that Sr. Prejean’s defense was “mistaken,” “misrepresenting others,” and “disappointing”. Thankfully, SCOTUS maintained one inmate’s stay of execution originally set for tonight. (More here.)

After reporting that the Supreme Court of the United States decided to maintain an inmate’s stay of execution tonight in Arkansas, we’ve learned that the State of Arkansas not only sought to embark on and fight to secure its killing spree starting on Easter Monday, but criticize Sr. Helen Prejean for advocating on behalf of those Arkansas has sought to kill.
Communications Director for Gov. Hutchinson spent part of his Easter Monday afternoon tweeting that Sr. Prejean’s defense for life was “mistaken,” “misrepresenting others,” and “disappointing”.
Sr. Prejean is an internationally praised defender of human life and critic of state sanctioned killing.
Jesus was a convicted criminal executed by the state.

Your comparison of Jesus on the cross to the 8 men convicted of brutal murders is sorely disappointing, Sister. #arnews https://t.co/garYpSPGtt

Governor @AsaHutchinson‘s execution killing spree is what’s sorely disappointing. Let him know when you see him next, J.R. https://t.co/8V9EVLS3zV

You’re mistaken, Sister. I believe the killing spree you continue to reference was committed by the 8 you are fighting for. https://t.co/dbUod25ow8

No one condones killing, J.R. Killing is wrong, whether it’s done by a prisoner or by a governor like @AsaHutchinson. https://t.co/26tjRRk0vN

You seem to support your cause by misrepresenting others and the reality of the situation. Respectfully, that’s deception and helps no one. https://t.co/pMGaSBCIqN

Let’s work to halt each and every execution and work towards building a society that reveres all life.
