This is typical of the problem that I frequently have with Father Barron’s media presentations. The text is both valid and valuable. However, he utilizes both the example of a prominent and influential Episcopal woman cleric and the story of a demon possessed young woman to teach the lesson. I think that this is more than simply an unfortunate coincidence. I think it is not incidental that he frequently relates women in religion to inappropriateness, error and evil. I cannot help but feel that he expresses here the classic misogyny of the deeply closeted, self loathing, pseudo celibate, homosexual Catholic clergy but maybe it’s just me.
