The Lying Liar Lied Again
Last week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its regular jobs reports. New jobs in America are at the lowest number since the worst of COVID.
That’s no big surprise to anyone who is plugged into reality. Trump and his billionaire pals are gutting this country. It’s really a mark of just how strong America was before Trump took over that we are still standing.
But chickens always come flapping home, and this jobs report was just a teeny-tiny-itty-bitty harbinger of what is coming further down the road for all of us. I am not saying that the crack and crash will be tomorrow, but America can’t take this destruction forever. You’d have to be plain stupid to not see that.
Trump, being the lying dictator that he is, reacted to the bad jobs number in the way he always reacts when facts get in his way.
Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor statistics.
Trump then went on an all-out lying attack, claiming that somehow or other the bad jobs report was “fake news” by liberals designed to make him look bad. (As if he needed any help in looking bad.)
Trump then found himself an “economist” who had so little self-respect and professional integrity that he would stand up in a press conference and present a fake analysis that showed how the numbers were really fantastically good.
Trump topped this off by holding up a pasteboard with a couple of lines drawn on it that he claimed “proved” that the jobs were really going straight up.
All this brings old jokes to mind.
You know the ones.
I weighed this morning. Then I threw that lying scale in the trash.
Or, the Russian joke, where a Russian pilot does an emergency landing of an airliner because he says the engine is smoking. Ten minutes later, the plane takes off again. Someone remarks, that was really fast. How did you replace the engine in 10 minutes? The answer: They didn’t replace the engine. They replaced the pilot.
That’s what our government has come down to.
Our president lies all the time. I mean, he lies All. The. Time.
Everyone around our president lies All. The. Time. If they don’t lie, he fires them.
All the Republicans in Congress and in the governor’s offices and everywhere else I can see have also become people who Lie. All. The. Time.
Trump’s whore clergy Lie. All. The. Time.
The problem with this — aside from the fact that most of our “star” clergy, and just about every elected Republican is well on their way to sending themselves to hell — is that we can no longer believe anything our government says.
Let’s talk about the jobs report, as a for-instance. It is as obvious as a hail stone smashing you in the head in an Oklahoma thunderstorm that the markets can no longer believe government information about the state of the economy.
That means the markets are no longer really transparent.
That means our investments are tracking along lies instead of facts.
And that means, that, sooner or later, economic reality will re-assert itself in a can’t-be-denied-or-ducked-or-fired-or-lied-about way. It may take a while, but no lie can live forever, and economic lies have a way of dying with a bang.
Add to that the fact that Trump has removed most of the regulations and fired most of the regulators that strive to keep the markets and the players in the markets honest and …
Add to that the mountain of corruption, insider trading, extortion and bribery that it for sure looks like is going on, and …
You’ve got the reason why I’m saying that the last honest jobs report we will receive so long as Republicans are in charge was just a harbinger, a faint little tweet in the distance, of what’s coming.
Read your history. I’m not talking about the history since FDR slapped regulations and regulators on the markets, since he put unemployment insurance and Social Security in place to keep We the People from falling off a cliff into starvation every time the big boys bring the house down.
Read your history from before FDR. Read what happens to people like us when the rich guys get to steal and plunder at will.
America has never seen anything like this before. Back in the forgotten day, Americans insisted on integrity in their presidents. We took pride in calling Lincoln “Honest Abe.” When a president got too close to scandal, we fired him.
Congress used the power vested in it by the Constitution to put a brake on presidents who wanted to be dictators. The Supreme Courts of the past, before the Nazi 6, were absolute in their certainty that no American, including the President, was above the law.
But that was then. This is now.
Now, Trump ignores how Congress appropriated money and just spends it however he likes, fires anyone, anywhere that he wants, uses the Justice Department to settle grudges and punish anyone he dislikes. Now, thanks to the “big, beautiful bill” that Republicans in Congress handed over to him, Trump is hiring a massive private army called ICE that he can — and I believe that he will — use however he likes against whomever he chooses.
The lying liar lied again. This time about the jobs report.
It was pretty comical stuff, watching his servile “economist” suck up and kiss up and say all manner of gibberish to please the tyrant. When Trump held up that chart and “proved” how great jobs “really, really, really are” it was like a skit from Saturday Night Live.
Only nobody laughed. The room was silent. Because the press is cowed. Nobody said you’ve gotta be joking.
Because they’re scared of him.
