Trump’s Republicans have become the Party of Death. How did this happen?

The budget which they are fighting for would end the subsidy the government pays to supplement insurance costs through Obamacare, otherwise known as the Affordable Care Act.

That would send insurance premiums skyrocketing for the exact American citizens who are least able to pay them. In fact, it would increase those Americans’ insurance premiums an average of about $900/month. Most of them couldn’t afford it, and would lose their health insurance, all the same time that Republicans are enacting massive cuts to Medicaid.

At the same time, the job market has become really tight. I have a family member who hires a lot of people. He has told me repeatedly that we are already in a recession. The reason he says this is simple. Hundreds of people are applying for every job opening he has. And the people who are applying are becoming more and more desperate for the job.

That’s an informal barometer, but it’s real world.

Why would an American president and an American Congress be so determined to throw millions of people off health insurance?

The ugly and inexcusable truth is they are doing it to give money to their billionaire pals. They want to transfer the money currently used to provide health care for millions of ordinary people like you and me to a handful of billionaires.

These elected officials, that WE PUT IN OFFICE, care more about Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Jeff Zuckerberg, et al, and their insane lust for more and more and more $$$$$$$ than they do the lives of the American people.

Make no mistake about it, if people lose their health insurance, many of them will die unnecessarily. Many others will become invalids when they wouldn’t if they had the proper care, many of them will suffer illnesses that could be treated. And — let me repeat this — many Americans will die from treatable illnesses for lack of health care.

All because they can’t afford to see the doctor. They can’t afford to fill their prescriptions. They can’t afford physical therapy. They can’t afford  chemo. They can’t afford prenatal care. They can’t afford splints, braces, protheses, transfusions, surgeries and treatments that would let them get well and live.

The Trump Republican Party is taking a hard pro death line where the lives of the American people are concerned.

In addition, they are fighting tooth and nail to cut millions of people off Medicaid. That would mean that many of those people would die. That’s a simple fact.

The funding they are cutting would inevitably cause the closing of many of our hospitals, especially in rural areas.

As people often remark, American is a huge country.

For those of you who live in cities, let me tell you. It can be a long drive from Guymon Oklahoma to Oklahoma City when you are a pregnant woman gushing blood because the placenta has dropped and you are bleeding out. You and your baby will almost certainly die.

It’s a “fer piece” to travel when you’re having a heart attack, or your hand got caught in equipment and you’re bleeding, or your baby was bit by a rattlesnake.

Your Republican Congressman and your Republican Senators are the ones who are using the power you entrusted to them with your vote to make sure you don’t have medical care nearby when you need it. Think about that.

Trump’s Republicans are doing two things to cover themselves with their base. First of all, they are falling back on what has become their number one excuse for every unpopular thing they do.

They are blaming immigrants. Trump’s Republican Party has become a party that depends on hatred of immigrants in much the same way the Nazis depended on hatred of the Jews.

Hitler claimed that he didn’t start a war. He said, in speech after speech, that it was International Jewry that caused the war. He then used this lie as an excuse to put Jews in camps and murder them.

Trump’s Republicans are now trying to claim that they aren’t cutting health care because they are actively transferring the entire wealth of this country into the hands of a few billionaires. Nope. They are claiming that the reason they are fighting tooth and nail to cut off the health care from millions of Americans is because “illegal immigrants” are getting this money.

That’s a bald-faced lie, and they know it. I can’t put it more simply than that.

It’s against the law to give these benefits to illegal immigrants. These Republicans know this. They know it because they passed the law themselves. If Republicans don’t think that law is strong enough, they could — dare I saw this — pass a stronger law. But instead they claim the “solution” is to shut down rural hospitals and take away health insurance from millions of Americans and transfer the blood money to a handful of billionaires.

These Trump Republicans know that a lot of their own constituents are going to die because of what they are doing. They just don’t care. Their only way of addressing the issue is to lie and claim that the trouble is not them, it’s illegal immigrants.

Their way of “bargaining” for their position also says a lot of about them.

Trump and his puppets in Congress are refusing to come to the table with the Democrats and negotiate like people who are responsible for governing the United States of America and who care about America and Americans. What they are doing instead is threatening that if the Democrats don’t fold up and let them deep-six health care for millions of Americans, they will fire thousands of Americans from their jobs.

Their idea of “negotiating” is to behave like hostage takers, and We the People are their hostages. They’re holding a gun to our heads and telling the Democrats that if they don’t just sit back and let them take away our health insurance and close our rural hospitals, they’re going to fire thousands of us from our jobs.

This says a lot about where we are with our two political parties right now. Time was, we called the Democrats the “Party of Death” because so many of them supported legal abortion. Not all Democrats supported legal abortion, but, especially on the national level, most did.

But Roe v Wade is history. The question now is how to protect the lives of both the mother and the baby, not how to end legal abortion.

At the same time, the entire pro life equation has flipped. Now, the Republicans are the Party of Death and the Democrats are the Party of Life.

Look at everything Republicans have done since Trump took office. It’s pro death, right down the line.

It is sooooo significant that Republicans are using the threat of firing Americans from their jobs as their means of bargaining with Democrats.

What that tells us is that Republicans believe that Democrats care if they fire people from their jobs. They believe they care so much that they can blackmail them with it.

In fact they successfully blackmailed them with the same threat in order to pass Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” last spring. The trouble is, Trump went right ahead and fired thousands of people anyway.

The presumption — by the Republicans — is that the Democrats care about the American people so much that they can blackmail them by threatening to harm us if Democrats don’t do what Republicans want.

It wasn’t always this way. Time was, BOTH parties cared about America and Americans. Neither party would deliberately do things that killed Americans.

But then, time was, no American president would tell an assembly of our generals that they should use American cities for “training grounds.”

Time was, no American president would send troops into states that voted against him to “break” (his words) them.

Time was, no American president would instruct his corrupt “justice department” to indict people who oppose him.

Time was, no American, including the President, was above the law.

I hate having to write this kind of thing. But I have no choice. I am pro life. And this is a clear-cut pro life issue of huge consequence.
