Troops Firing on Unarmed Civilians is Murder, not Combat 2025-10-14T10:45:54-06:00

Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty. Exodus 23:7

Texas National Guard has arrived in Chicago.

ICE shot a Chicago woman earlier this week. They claim she was armed. But witnesses dispute what they are saying and call it a coverup.

While I don’t know what happened, I’ve seen enough videos of ICE agents physically brutalizing people and heard enough lies from this regime that I question everything they say, including this. ICE’s behavior that I’ve seen in videos seems to me to be the behavior of people who have been given, not just permission, but encouragement, to enact brutality on civilians.

They are anonymous, hiding behind masks, without badges, legal warrants or due cause of any sort. They do not face consequences under the law for anything they do, because the people who are running our government ignore the law when it applies to themselves. They truly are behaving like a gestapo.

Trump is sending troops into peaceful cities whose only “crime” is that the majority of their citizens voted for his political opponents. His claims of a sudden outbreak of a crime wave that is so severe it requires him to send in troops is a blatant lie. There was no problem in these cities until he created it. The only outbreak of crime is Trump’s violent abuse of power.

Trump appears to be trying to incite violence. Does he want bloodshed so that he can declare martial law and set himself up as a military dictator? I can’t think of any other explanation for a president telling an assembly of our generals that they should use America’s cities for “training grounds.”

That puts the men and women in the National Guard who Trump is attempting to use as his weapon against the American people in a terrible position.

You may end up being ordered to fire on unarmed American civilians. That is absolutely not what you signed up for when you joined the National Guard. If you fire on unarmed American civilians, you will never be the same again.

Each of us only has one brief life in this world, and each of us is here for a purpose. You can use your life for good, or for evil.

Sometimes, things you do wrong can be undone. If you rob a store, you can take the money back. If you tell a lie, you can confess and tell the truth. But when you kill another human being, you can never undo it. They are gone.

Everything they might have done, every opportunity they might have had to contribute to our world, or make amends for their mistakes has ended — and you are the one who has ended it. Their blood is on your hands and you can never wash it off.

A family member of mine went through CLEET training. A crusty old cop conducted a class in this training on firearms. Before he began, he told the cops in his class, Remember, Jesus don’t like no killin’. My family member said the room went deep silent when he said that.

The old cop was right. Jesus don’t like no killin’.

You do not have the right before God to kill innocent people. No order you receive will ever justify killing an unarmed civilian when you stand before God.

You are a child of God and so is every person you meet. You do not have the right before God to take the life of an innocent person no matter who orders you to do it.

There is a higher order. There is a real Commander in Chief who outranks any president who ever sat in the Oval Office.

The God Who made you, also made the people Trump wants to use you to terrify and even kill. You are his beloved child, and so are they. You will both stand before God one day and answer to Him.

God will forgive any sin, but do not presume on God’s mercy. The price of forgiveness is a lot more than some formulaic little prayer. The price of forgiveness is sincere repentance, and sincere repentance is not cheap. Sincere repentance is a turning around, a break with every illusion you ever had about yourself. It is deeply painful.

Sincere repentance is humility such as you have never known and cannot imagine until you experience it. It means coming face to face with what you have done, and feeling in your own heart and flesh, right down to the core of your soul, the pain you have inflicted on other people. It is learning for real and forever that you deserve hell and only Christ can save you. That is the price of forgiveness.

I know this. I have lived it.

Nothing — nothing — justifies killing an innocent human being, and if you do it, you will never get over it. You do not want to go there.

What Trump is doing by ordering you and other troops into America’s cities based on lies is evil. It can only lead to more evil. We — all of us — can stop this evil by simply refusing to be part of it. This terrible situation Trump has placed you in, is also your opportunity to stand for Christ in the face of evil.

It appears that Trump is using you, America’s beloved defenders, as instruments of petty vengeance against other Americans. These Americans voted for his opponent in the election. Now, he wants to terrorize and visit violence on them. He even is willing to use you to kill them.

This is not the defense of America. It is not what you signed up for when you took the oath to defend the Constitution.

You are not defending your country. You are being used by an evil man to attack your country. You are his means of personal vengeance for imaginary wrongs.

You have been ordered into another state to attack local civilians for no reason except that the Mad King wants to punish the people who voted against him.

You could very easily find yourself faced with a decision about whether or not to fire on unarmed American civilians.

This isn’t a question about who or what Trump is. We know what he is.

The question is who are you? What are you willing to become?

When fully armed troops fire on unarmed civilians, they are not engaging in combat.

They are committing murder.

On peril of your soul, don’t do it.
