Trump had a hard time getting him confirmed because he was such a red meat MAGA.
I didn’t pay much attention to his confirmation hearing at the time, but if I had, I’m sure I would have consigned him to the waste bin where I toss Trump boot-lickers. As it turns out, I would have been wrong.
Joe Kent, the Director of America’s National Anti-Terrorism Center, just resigned from his position because (and I quote)
I cannot in good conscience support the on-going war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation.
He goes on to explain his reasons, and they are in some ways sound, and in other ways a symptom of what I would guess is his PTSD from wartime duty and his grief. Here’s what he says:
As a veteran who deployed to combat 11 times, and as a gold star husband who lost my beloved wife Shannon in a war manufactured by Israel, I cannot support sending the next generation off to fight and die in a war that serves no benefit to the American people nor justifies the cost of American lives.
His grief is deeply moving, and I feel his angst over this and other stupid wars all the way through. The lives of people I care about were taken by these useless wars. On the other hand, he clearly blames Israel for the Iraq War, which I think is a mistake.
The man who is responsible for the Iraq War debacle is former President George H. W. Bush.
Joe Kent also thinks that Israel is responsible for leading Trump into our current misbegotten war with Iran. While I’ve read a lot of press reports saying that Netanyahu is a Trump whisperer who beguiled our idiot prez into this mess, I don’t for one minute think he is responsible for Trump’s decision to start this war.
Trump is President of the United States of America. He is responsible for everything that happens to this country. The lives, prosperity and future of every single one of us are on him, not a foreign head of state. Trump is president. Trump got us into this war.
Having said that, I do think that when the Director of Counter Terrorism, who has access to all the same information Donald Trump has, and who studies it and assesses it 24/7, says what appears to be obvious to the rest of the whole wide world, he is almost certainly right.
Iran posed no imminent threat to the United States of America. Trump made a unilateral decision to commit this nation to a war, and he went against the advice of his own national security people and his generals when he did it.
A lot of people have said that Trump started this war to distract public attention from the Epstein Files. Considering that the files contain evidence that Trump raped children and was present when a baby that resulted from the rapes of a child was murdered, that makes sense. When you consider that Trump’s DOJ is still hiding a lot of the files, with heaven only knows what kinds of evidence in them, it makes even more sense.
There is no statute of limitation on murder. Trump wasn’t president when this baby was allegedly murdered, so the Supreme Court’s decision making him above the law does not apply.
Given Trump’s rapacious greed and desire to dominate people, Iran is a glittering jewel for a man who is so easily tempted. Trump has said to the press that he intends to name the person who will run Iran after he finishes with his war.
I don’t have a crystal ball, but my guess would be that whoever he would appoint would be another one of his finger puppets.
Trump’s finger puppet FCC chair is always threatening to take away some television network’s license if they don’t say nice things about Trump.
Trump has tried mightily to use his finger puppet “Justice Department” to find something to prosecute the Fed Chair for a made up crime because he wouldn’t do what Trump wanted.
Think what Trump would do if he had a finger puppet head of Iran in control of all that oil and the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iran War has indeed proven to be a great distraction from the Epstein Files. Trump may still get control of Iran’s massive oil reserves and the choke hold on world commerce that we call the Strait of Hormuz.
I don’t think Trump needed Netanyahu to beguile him into this war. I do think that Netanyahu is just as much of a psychopath as I believe that Trump himself is.
But Trump has been hurting people for money all his life. He doesn’t need a Trump whisperer to make him do evil. He can do it all on his own.
That said, it looks to me like Joe Kent is a sincere person. He may be ravaged by PTSD and grief, but he’s sincere.
And in this instance, he’s right.
Iran posed no imminent threat to America. Trump is lying.
