First Vote on S 2578 is In. They Didn’t Stop a Filibuster.

The first vote on S 2578, the bill to overturn the Hobby Lobby decision by repealing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, is in. It was a vote on cloture. Cloture is a vote to stop a filibuster on a measure, or, as in this case, whether or not to debate a bill. Pope Francis did the obvious, pastoral thing today when he called for governments to assure the safety of unaccompanied child migrants. He specifically asked the Mexican government to step up in this area. I’m under the weather today, so I’ve spent the afternoon watching the Spielberg version of War of the Worlds.
