7 Reasons Millennials Are So Done With This Election

7 Reasons Millennials Are So Done With This Election 2016-07-26T12:19:57-04:00

1.) We’re More Left-Wing Than Any Previous Generation

Whatever problems millennials have, and there are quite a few, I’ve gotta say I love my generation. Because at the end of the day, we’re going to solve all the problems our parents and grandparents have left us with.

We supported Bernie Sanders because (get this), his policies actually matched most closely with our own. We want everyone to have the same privileges, the same opportunities, the same benefits, and we’re willing to all chip in to make it happen. Hell, more of us are down with socialism than with capitalism!

The revolutionary left, which I estimate is made up of about 99.99% millennials, are into every different stripe of socialism: democratic, libertarian, anarchist, and even communism. We combine our leftist economic positions with commitments to feminism, racial justice, and environmental protection, and we do it all in the name of a more equal society.

See, the truth is there really is no leftist party in the United States. The Democrats are center-right with a few center-left social positions, and the Republicans are somewhere off the right side of the political spectrum entirely.

And that’s all okay. There should be a political party to represent centrists/moderates; Hillary Clinton’s nomination has proven there are enough of them. And unfortunately there are millions of far-right crazy people willing to vote for Trump. Democracy means admitting that they deserve representation too.

But the most left-wing voting bloc is left in the dark by the two major political parties, and we’re bummed by it. With the official end of the Bernie Sanders campaign, a lot of these people are going to tune right back out of politics and go back to their cartoons and weed.

But a lot more are not going to do that. Instead they’re going to go Green, or Libertarian, and in so doing they’ll find others fighting for their own beliefs. If that’s what it takes for more millennials to get involved in the political process, then I’m all for it.

If you truly care about democracy, you should be too.
