90

My husband’s sweet grandmother is turning 90 this week, and her whole family is traveling from all over the country to join her in celebrating it.

90 years
1 great love
6 children
10 grandchildren
12 great grandchildren (so far)

It seems like a lot, and yet not nearly enough to sum up the life up ’til now of the woman I’m pretty certain is a living saint.

I’ve known and loved her since I was 19 years old, and I’ve never heard her say an unkind word about anyone.  Ever.  It’s an astounding thing, really.  She smiles and loves, hugs and pats just about everyone she meets, and her back-cracking hugs are legendary.  She glows with love and joy, and lives that way every day of her life.

She is the woman I want to be when I’m 90.  Her children adore her and delight in her company.  Her grandchildren call her regularly and are thrilled to speak with her.  Her great grandchildren fight to sit near her, to climb on her lap, or to simply hold her hand.  At 90 years old, she still travels all over the country visiting her close family and much loved relatives and is welcome everywhere she goes.

She is the very definition of the word “Beloved.”

The Computer Guy, #7, me, and Grandma A

Please say a prayer of Thanksgiving with me this Sunday.  For God so loved us that he gave to us Grandma A, and we are so very blessed indeed!
