**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!**
Box jumps taunt me. I stand there in front of the wooden boxes and think in my head “I can totally jump that high.”, then I bend my knees and get ready to pounce when the thought goes through my head “You’re gonna diiiiieee.” It’s the mom in me. I look at those boxes and see busted teeth, stitches, and a trip to the emergency room.
I wuss it out every time and do the 12 inch jump instead. Ugh. It’s a mental block. I know it is, and yet…it’s still there. I’ll get them eventually. I remember when pull ups freaked me out and now I like them. They make me feel strong. I’m ready for the day when the box jumps make me feel agile and cat-like.
I’m going to practice them at home. We have that table in the front room that my 3-year-old likes to jump on and off. It looks like a nice mid-point between the wuss jump and the 20 inches that are so intimidating to me.
Thanks CrossFit. You’ve got me jumping on the furniture with my 3 year old and convincing myself that it’s a sane thing to do.
On the bright side, I made paleo gingerbread muffins yesterday for one of the guys from the gym. He’s a fire fighter and took us on a tour of the station. Muffins seemed like a great way to say thanks.
They were pretty good for healthy stuff. Here’s the recipe. I added coconut butter to the top as frosting. Then they were amazing!
