I finally did it!

I jumped onto the box!

For months I’ve been so afraid of those boxes. They looked like death to me, or at least pain. I’m not known for being especially graceful, so leaving the safety of the ground to hop onto a wooden box that’s almost two feet high? It didn’t seem like an especially good idea.

Until today.

Today we had our Saturday workout, and were competing for reps – one group against another – for bragging rights. I did my regular 12 inch sissy jumps and felt like a complete fraud. I could jump higher. I just knew it. Just like that.

I turned on my heel and walked across the gym, let out the breath I was holding and jumped.

I landed on the edge and nearly fell, but it wasn’t because I couldn’t get that high. It was because I was standing too far away. I looked around to make sure that no one was watching in case I fell on my behind, and jumped.

I stood on top of that box and started to laugh. I could have done this a month ago easily. It wasn’t by body that couldn’t do it; it was my mind. Once I got my mind right, it was done.
