**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!** I overslept yesterday morning and missed my class. I woke up at 5:00 and thought “I can get another hour’s sleep easily.” and the next thing I knew, I was waking up at 7:00. Say what you want about being up with a sick and cranky baby and maybe I needed the rest…it doesn’t matter …my whole day was weird. I... Read more

It seems as if we were all stuck in a bad case of the Februarys just last week. Then suddenly one day it’s April and the mood in the house just changes. Last month’s battle to get school work done has been replaced by some serious page counting as my children calculate and then re-calculate just how much longer it will be until they’re done for the school year. It takes me by surprise every year, this attitude shift. One day... Read more

**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!** I ache this morning. My shins are killing me. The run on Saturday morning was further than I’ve run in a really long time, and I’m paying the price for it today. I’ve been told that it’s because I run wrong. I don’t know about that. This is the way I’ve run all my life. I had no idea there was... Read more

A year ago, my sweet #4 could hardly walk. This weekend she ran a 5K at a nifty 15 minute a mile pace. Readers email me at least once a week to ask how she’s doing. Well, she’s running. She’s goofy and laughing, and the happy sunny girl we love. Shots are still no fun, but we have hopes that by this time next year she’ll be off of them. Not to be forgotten was #2 who ran the race... Read more

**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!** I clocked myself on the underside of my chin with the barbell this morning. I was really trying to challenge myself and put 10 pounds more than I usually lift onto the bar. (It’s amazing how much heavier 10 pounds can be.) I was thinking about my form – where my feet were planted, the straightness of my back, etc. Shermonte,... Read more

**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!** Box jumps taunt me. I stand there in front of the wooden boxes and think in my head “I can totally jump that high.”, then I bend my knees and get ready to pounce when the thought goes through my head “You’re gonna diiiiieee.” It’s the mom in me. I look at those boxes and see busted teeth, stitches, and a... Read more

I had a Facebook chat last night with a Catholic friend of mine.  He started by asking “What do you think of Pope Francis?” and then went on to tell me how nervous he is about what he’s seeing. He’s a pretty traditional guy, and the deviations from the norm are beginning to worry him. What if these little chinks in the armor of tradition grow to become widespread cracks? It’s a question I’ve been reading a lot of lately.... Read more

**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!** I beat my 13 year old son at push ups last night. Smoked him. He was working on his physical fitness merit badge for Boy Scouts and was whining about how hard push ups were to do. “I’ll do them with you,” I challenged him. “See if you can keep up with your old mom.” He couldn’t. Not even close. I’ve... Read more

** The gym I’ve been going to is sponsoring a 90 day challenge of working out and eating right to completely change the way we live. I’ve been asked to blog about it.** We ran today. I hate running. The pull-ups (with the blue band, thank you very much) I love. I’ll admit to smiling when I see pull ups on the schedule, but the running….ugh. With all the weight I gained in my last pregnancy, my Jr High asthma... Read more

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in homeschooling my children is to never assume anything, I always have to ask to be sure. The child who nods her way through a religion lesson may not understand a thing I’ve said to her, and the child who gets everything wrong on his math may understand it perfectly. You have to ask your children what they mean. Your child who is failing might not have a lack of understanding, but be... Read more
