Aslan Is On The Move!

Aslan Is On The Move! December 9, 2005

I just got back home from a screening of Narnia in Franklin, TN and I just have say it’s just such a wonderful film. My main familiarity with Narnia was watching the cartoon movie as a kid so I wasn’t aware of all the subtle and not-so-subtle spiritual allegories. I know there are so many comparisons to Lord Of The Rings but for me, that was more entertainment and this one, I just found myself being amazed with the messages, going “wow, that’s powerful.” I would encourage you parents to take your children and their friends and explain all of it afterward. I took my friends’ two young boys and they absolutely loved it but weren’t completely aware of all of the symbolism. One of them said about the writer, “that’s so cool that he was able to do that.”

SIDE NOTES: The boys also enjoyed meeting the voice behind Larry The Cucumber who was extremely nice and Ben and Mark from Audio Adrenaline, who kept them company while I chatted with some other folks. We socialized with our buddy Warren Barfield (who has an incredible new record coming out – more on that later), along with his wife, sister-in-law and sister Rene, who some of you might remember was in a serious wreck around a year ago. Also there was Nicole C. Mullen, Building 429, Jars of Clay, ZoeGirl and Rebecca St. James, as well as a ton of music industry workers.

They gave us these gift bags with posters, passports to Narnia and my favorite – a nice black skull cap with the lion logo embroidered on the front and “Aslan Is On The Move” on the back. What a great film and a great night!
