Amazon MGM Studios has released the final trailer for its Ryan Gosling science fiction epic “Hail Mary.” The film, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (“The LEGO Movie,” The Spider-Verse series), is the big screen adaptation of the 2021 New York Times bestselling book by Andy Weir.

Earlier trailers revealed the recruitment of Gosling’s character, Ryland Grace, to embark on a mission to the save the world. The new trailer focuses more on his developing partnership with an alien life form on the same mission. At one point, Grace tells “Rocky” that he’s on a “one way trip,” indicating his acceptance of self-sacrifice.
The official synopsis follows:
Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone.
