7 Reasons Why Muslims Are Not Silent About ISIS

Before Christians (or anyone else) try to make the serious claim that Muslims are not against the barbaric atrocities of ISIS, I would ask them to Google “Muslims denounce ISIS” — or learn Arabic and do more thorough research.

I did the former. In what follows are some of the results I found on the first page.

First, a statement from a group of Imams of the UK:

Second, Indonesia, home to the world’s largest Muslim population, has “officially banned support for the terrorist group the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).”

Third, Radio Vaticana reports on condemnations from the world’s top Muslims.

Fourth, Yahoo reports, “The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) condemns the forced expulsion of the Christian brothers of Iraq from their homes, cities and provinces.”

Fifth, Egypt’s Grand Mufta condems ISIS.

Sixth, an Australian Muslim denounces one of his own as a “lunatic” for praising ISIS.

Seventh, the Arab League denounces ISIS for “crimes against humanity.”

My question to my Abrahamic brothers and sisters at the Patheos Muslim channel is, why are you not reporting on — and joining  — the predominant voices of your religious community (and your channel editor)?
