Voyage KC website features Bennette in a recent article as one of Kansas City’s most inspiring stories.

What Drives Bennette to do her outreach?

“My passion is bringing people together to improve the city,” she says in her interview. Bennette believes the best way to help the city is by “establishing stronger relationships among churches and other like-minded groups.” She organizes and takes part in humanitarian initiatives. These:

  • tackle violent crime in the community
  • respond to disasters
  • raise awareness of human rights, and
  • work to reverse Kansas City’s drug epidemic through drug education and prevention.

But life wasn’t always easy for the mother of six grown children and the grandmother of seven.

Thirty years ago when she was 19, Bennette was trapped in a mentally abusive marriage with two children under age 5.

That’s when a KC Scientologist introduced her to Scientology.

“A friend suggested I take a Life Improvement Course at the Church of Scientology in Kansas City. I did, and it helped me understand what was happening in my life and gave me the tools I needed to turn my life around.”
