Inspiration from Arie at the Texas Motor Speedway

Inspiration from Arie at the Texas Motor Speedway April 27, 2015

I left the track that night thinking about how Arie is living a life about which most of us only dream. No, most people don’t want to race trucks for a living, but so many of us wish we were doing something in life about which we were truly passionate. Knowing Arie as well as I do, I know he races because he loves it.  In fact, it’s what he loves to do most in life. I’m sure he could have opted for something that provided more financial security… Lord knows he could have chosen a safer job!

Instead, he’s chasing his dreams.

There’s something awesome about that.

I’m asked all the time what my favorite Bible verse is.  It’s James 4:14, which says, in the New Living Version:

How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.

Basically that means that our time on earth is just a moment in time compared to eternity. It really helps put things in perspective for me. I know that I sometimes drift towards playing it safe, when I know it’s not what my heart truly desires. James 4:14 helps remind me that my time on earth is brief so we need to make the most of it.

I want to pursue my passions just as Arie is doing and glorify God in the process.
