Anyone who spends much time in airports knows that stress often runs high for travelers. Add to that the stress of holiday travel and increase in crowds during the Christmas season, and terminals across the country are often full of people on edge.
But United Airlines has a plan to ease the stress and try to put some joy back into the holiday season while their customers are traveling to see family and friends. Forbes has the details:
And that is why United is positioning cadres of friendly dogs – primarily golden retrievers – at six key airports on four key holiday travel days.
The seven airports are Chicago O’Hare, Cleveland Hopkins, DenverInternational, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles International, Newark International and Washington Dulles. The dates and times are Dec. 21 (today); Dec. 22, and Dec. 23 from nine until noon and from one until four.
“We launched this program last year to help take some of the stress out of holiday travel for our customers,” said Mark Krolick, United’s managing director of marketing. “During the holidays we tend to have a lot of people who are not used to traveling as much and not as experienced in traveling through the airports.
“We are looking for ways to take the stress out of travel for them,” Krolick said.
Man’s best friend saves the day once again. United Airlines is definitely on to something. United must have heard about dogs being used to ease stress for law students during finals and for the elderly in nursing homes. There is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog to melt stress away.
There will be more joy in the world this Christmas thanks to United and their furry friends.
