Practical spirituality for a mystic housewife

Becoming a practical mystic as well as a housewife

practical spirituality

I first considered the notion of becoming a mystic when I began my EMF Balancing Technique training with Peggy Phoenix Dubro.  Peggy is a wonderful teacher and the originator of this technique, which calibrates, strengthens and balances our electromagnetic field.

Peggy has always said that she is a ‘practical mystic’. I liked that term as soon as I heard it but hadn’t come across it before – I was training with her to find out why I could feel and sense energy fields as part of my daily existence and what I could do about it, never mind all that mystical stuff!

The approach that Peggy modeled for me and other seekers during her classes was that of allowing a spiritual experience to unfold and teach a person more about themselves.

Viewing numinous or mystical experiences this way would then result in useful, practical information about managing daily life here on planet Earth.  Sounded good to me.

Enter the mystic housewife

When I first trained with Peggy I had an 8 month old baby and would shortly become aware that I was pregnant again (my two girls are 17 months apart). I refer to my early years with them as the ‘poo’ years. Quite sure I don’t need to go into any more detail here…

There I was, a Brit abroad in Southern California (Lemoore in the San Joaquin Valley to be precise) with an active toddler and a newborn baby plus a husband on his Commanding Officer tour with the US Navy at NAS Lemoore.  What room would there be for mystical experiences?

Thank g-d for mysticism and spirituality along with the diapers

Luckily for me, studying the structure of the human energy field helped me with my own structural integrity both during those early years with my children and the study and practice of same still continues to support me now.

Working with my personal energy field even as a housewife help me to have embodied experiences of

  • the human energy centers or chakras
  • intuitive hits and intuitive/psychic development
  • learning from powerful spiritual experiences that before my study I simply had no way of understanding or validating
  • a deeper understanding of the nature of my relationship with God, creator energy or _______________________ (put your word for it here).

Practical mystic?

Reader perhaps I can hear you saying – well that’s all very well, but what about the practical part?

At the very simplest level, learning about the human energy field helped me to understand that when a couple turned up for a cleaning contract on my house as we were preparing to leave on the next Navy tour – the kick in my gut or solar plexus chakra was definitely real and the guy really was checking out my house in an inappropriate way.

My two year old Indigo child was even more instinctive, hiding behind me and saying “I don’t like that man, mommy”.   As women we may sometimes give in to the tendency to be nice and polite and ‘shoo’ kids when they speak from energy in this way.   Working as I was with my personal energy field – I knew this was too real to ignore.   Very practical mysticism.

Later, the woman partner called me and said to me “We didn’t get the work – did we?” I chose to be completely open with her …. and she agreed.   She had mentioned that several clients seemed to feel uncomfortable around her male partner. Whatever he had going on, it was not energetically congruent for my family for sure.

I had also noticed that the local water in Lemoore at the time wasn’t the best quality and that in fact at one point our faucets began to look eroded.  Even though it was unusual for the area at the time and my husband raised his brows a little I drank bottled water, bought organic milk and was careful with my product purchases.

My study of energy work kept me present and aware of how the energy of the location truly made me feel even with two small ones crawling around my feet.

There WAS something in the water

It turned out that this was an extremely intuitive move. Once we had left Lemoore and were relocating to Southern MD I picked up a USA Today and couldn’t believe what I was reading.

Doctors in Fresno CA, about 40 miles north of Lemoore were stating a concern about the level of nitrates in the water supply due to the intensive farming methods used in the area.

Let’s just say, if you’ve ever eaten nuts, raisins or a bag salad it’s probably come from the San Joaquin Valley.   The reason for the concern was that an unusually high number of women were sadly experiencing abnormalities in fetuses and the quality of the water supply was called severely into question.

My vote goes to practical mysticism

I could cite more examples that I have experienced over my years of study but hopefully by now you get the point.

What I’d really like to have happen as a result of you reading this is that you take some time to think about your own mystical AND practical experiences and how your personal energy may keep you informed.  I’d love to hear your stories!
