Why do we try to get people to change their minds about abortion, then freak out when they do?

Why do we try to get people to change their minds about abortion, then freak out when they do?

This is what I don’t get.

Donald Trump has changed his mind on many important issues. So have I.

One, in particular, is related to abortion.

In the past, he stated he was pro-choice, but he hated it. And from the interview I watched from back then, I could see he  was having a real moral struggle with his position.

It doesn’t surprise me that NOW he is pro life. He changed his mind!

That should be a good thing.  Right?

Yet, all his opponents are criticizing him for this… even on the GOP side.  Don’t we want pro-choice people to change their positions?

This is a race to see who will be the best man to run the country, not a race to determine who can shame people into submission. (Yes, Ted Cruz, I’m looking at you.)  We need a man who commands respect, a man who says what he means and means what he says…  but also someone who can see when he’s wrong and change his mind.

Instead of gathering around someone and criticizing him or her for changing a position, we should celebrate!

On a personal note, I used to be pro-choice, even to the point of being in the stirrups to actually get an abortion.  I am very thankful I changed my mind…  and I will never criticize someone for changing their minds on the matter either.
