Confession: The REAL reason I was disappointed about my #Oscar night

Confession: The REAL reason I was disappointed about my #Oscar night March 3, 2016

Okay, I admit it.

I got a beautiful dress, got my hair and makeup done, and was prepared for a magical night.  The Oscars.  Could there be a more glamorous evening in America?

Apparently, yes.

The glamor of the Oscars – perhaps — will never be again.  The elegance and class that used to be seen on the red carpet has been replaced by moral posturing.

Screen Shot 2016-03-01 at 9.45.03 PMA quick recap.  This year, Leonardo DiCaprio issued a worried and passionate warning about global warming when he finally won his Oscar.  Vice President Joe Biden talked about consensual sex.  Spotlight producer Michael Sugar scolded Pope Francis about abusive priests.  Sam Smith erroneously claimed he was the first openly gay man to win an Oscar.  Lady Gaga sang a ballad about sex abuse survivors related to a documentary that has already been proven false.

The Daily Mail said, “it was as if all the sanctimonious posturing down the years had finally erupted in one vast explosion of self-regarding pomposity.”

Glamor and class cannot coexist with “hashtag social activism.”  It’s just not attractive to constantly be pointing out how much better you are than all those other people.  “The Dolby Theatre stage is not a soapbox and there is a limit to how much lecturing we should be expected to take,” wrote Brian Viner at the Daily Mail. “The 88th Academy Awards greatly exceeded that limit, showcasing almost more causes than films.”

Of course, THIS happened, when I walked across the stage to participate in one of Chris rock’s subversive joke. But I don’t think this was a joke that flopped, but it showcased how dominant liberalism was in that room.  (Read more about that HERE.)

Let’s face it.  Posturing any pretty.  And seeing the self-importance of these stars was more than a little disappointing.
