Wendy Davis pushes abortion at Notre Dame during feast celebrating the miraculous conception of Christ April 20, 2016

Wendy Davis first made headlines for her radical pro-abortion stances and for filibustering common-sense protections for women’s health in Texas.  #StandwithWendy swept the nation.

And now she is taking her show on the road.

This week she brought her extreme message to Notre Dame.  On the same day that most of the Catholic campus celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation, when Mary said “yes” to God and Christ was conceived in her womb, Wendy Davis spoke to a group of students telling them that she had an abortion out of love for her child!

Throughout her speech she slammed anyone who would “impose” their beliefs on abortion on others and praised Planned Parenthood.  (It is really strange that she speaks about imposing beliefs on others, when having an abortion does just that to your unborn child.)

Unsurprisingly, she also tied her pro-abortion platform directly to women’s rights and feminism.

I am so sick of hearing women like Wendy Davis claim to be the true feminists in our society.  She and her allies on the left claim to be speaking for women everywhere when they say abortion is often the most empowering choice for women.

It is a deadly lie.

I have been the girl in the abortion clinic who was told killing my baby is my best option, and I can tell you from experience I didn’t feel empowered, or cared for, or supported.  I knew that choosing to abort my baby wasn’t the “loving” choice for that child no matter what circumstances he would be born into or what challenges he might have.  And I’m so glad to have my Austin today, because I said NO to that abortion doctor back then.

The most loving and empowering choice we can make as women is to protect the lives of our children and to encourage each other that God has made us strong enough to handle even the toughest situations.  We are not so weak that we need to make our “problems” go away by choosing abortion.

So no Wendy Davis, I don’t stand with you, because I can’t stand for the murder of innocent children or the disempowerment of their mothers.
