Miniseries lectures middle America about being homophobes, is shocked when it flops

Remember when liberals accused conservatives of being preachy?  If that were every true, the shoe is definitely on the other foot. Heat Street reports that ABC made a miniseries called When We Rise about the struggle for gay rights that basically depicted most of America as hateful bigots.  Shockingly, no one wanted to tune in to receive that lecture:

… part one of When We Rise flopped on Monday. As a result, ABC rescheduled Modern Family to run just before the second installment to boost ratings. However, viewership of the second part fell almost 1 million viewers from its premiere, netting an audience of only 2.05 million on Wednesday, which is pathetic for prime-time slot on a commercial TV network.

Believe it or not, hysterical liberals actually believed President Donald Trump scheduled his recent Congressional address just to mess with the final episode of When We Rise.  Ha!  I don’t think ABC realizes that almost no one even realized this was being broadcast — in spite of the wall-to-wall coverage it got during the Oscars.

Heat Street says that’s dumb anyway:

… its failure more likely stems from the fact that viewers don’t respond well to ‘virtue scheduling’ on TV. When We Rise at times resembled an infomercial for GLAD (Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders). Even the New York Times didn’t give the show a rave—when the Grey Lady sniffs that a starry gay-rights drama “plays like a high-minded, dutiful educational video,” you know the show is in trouble.

Here’s the hard truth, Hollywood — we’re sick and tired of being lectured by you!
