I want to thank everyone for joining Steel Magnificat in our advent series of meditations on the Joys and Sorrows of Our Lady. For anyone wanting to pray the Seven Joys and Seven Sorrows, I’m compiling all my meditations here in one place.

The Seven Sorrows of Mary:

(It is traditional to pray an Our Father and seven Hail Marys  after meditating on each of these)

The Prophecy of Simeon

The Flight into Egypt

The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple

The Meeting on the Via Dolorosa

The Crucifixion and Death of Christ

The Piercing of the Side and the Lamentation

The Burial of Christ

(end with three Hail Marys for Our Lady’s tears)

The Franciscan Crown (or Seven Joys):

(it is customary to say and Our Father and ten Hail Marys after each meditation)

The Annunciation

The Visitation

The Nativity

The Adoration of the Magi

The Finding in the Temple

The Resurrection of Christ

The Assumption and Crowning of Mary

(finish with two Hail Marys, an Our Father and a Glory Be)

Personally, though, I prefer to meditate on the Sorrows and Joys of Mary all together as they happened in chronological order:

1. The Annunciation

2. The Visitation

3. The Nativity

4. The Prophecy of Simeon

5. The Adoration of the Magi

6. The Flight into Egypt

7. The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple

8. The Finding in the Temple

9.  The Meeting on the Via Dolorosa

10. The Crucifixion and Death of Christ

11. The Lamentation

12. The Burial of Christ

13. The Resurrection of Christ

14. The Assumption and Crowning of Mary

And Steel Magnificat wishes you and yours a very blessed and Merry Christmas!
