The Archdiocese of Cincinnati released a statement yesterday, asking the faithful to contact Governor Kasich regarding the pending deportation of Maribel Trujilo, a Fairfield, Ohio resident with no criminal record. Trujilo fled Mexico in 2002 after her family was targeted by drug cartels. Immigration officials had previously deemed her no threat to public safety and granted her prosecutorial discretion. I have just now seen the news that the United States just attacked a Syrian air base with 50 or 60 Tomahawk missiles, in retaliation for the recent sarin gas attack against civilians. This is the first US air strike against the Syrian president (rather than ISIS) in the six years of Syria’s civil war. I have never in my life seen a review of a book review. I imagine that, if one’s book is reviewed, the proper etiquette is to smile pleasantly at the free publicity, take any criticism on the chin, and collect the royalty check. I think this would particularly be the case if one was reviewed in such a balanced and just way as Sam Rocha reviewed Rod Dreher’s The Benedict Option.
