6. Miracle (Mark Isham)

I’m not including this one to fill out a mandatory “Hockey Score” requirement — OK, so I sort of am — but at the same time, it’s a great soundtrack, Isham’s an underrated-but-really-excellent composer (see/hear October Sky for additional evidence).

Besides, it always makes me think of the spine-tingling finale to Britten’s “Young Person’s Guide to The Orchestra.” And that’s never a bad association, in my book. In particular, I’m thinking of the way the theme bursts forth from the melodic chaos right around the 1:38 mark (which feels an awful lot like the 1:45 mark here).

Oh, and David Newman wrote something for a hockey movie, too.
