I’ve been saving this one for a while, but I decided to bust it out today for no particular reason except that I love it and it makes me smile every time I see it and I’m all about the smiles right now.
Oh, and also because James got to play a djembe with the wonderful folks at Primary Children’s Hospital’s musical therapy center, Sophie’s Room. He was particularly excited when he figured out that the center of the drum made a dramatically different sound than the edges. Spent the next 15-20 minutes on a couple of the drums, tapping out slight variations on a fairly complex rhythmic theme. And he loved every minute of it. (Must run in the family.)
This scene is from 2007’s The Visitor, a fine little film for which I have a particular fondness because it allows long-time character actor Richard Jenkins to take a much-deserved starring role. (The film itself is not available from any of the subscription services, but can be rented fairly easily.)
http://youtu.be/Mx0hcxP9T2YThe only problem with that clip? It’s too short. So here’s another:
