SSF: “The Song for Rain”

SSF: “The Song for Rain” August 10, 2015

A few weeks ago, I posted a wonderful little short called “Every Star.”

It (through the thread of its creator, Yawen Zheng) led me to another similarly-drawn, similarly-themed, similarly-wonderful short, “The Song for Rain.” And I felt that it deserved its own post.

The animation tells the story about a little boy who meet a fox in a rainy day. The fox wants to collect water from the city, so little boy helps the fox with his plight and accidentally he found another world where is the little fox come from.

Lovely stuff, especially the transition from the rainy city to the sunny countryside; charmingly simple and sweet-hearted way to make its relatively obvious (but worthwhile) point. And it’s got a pitch-perfect final scene. I could watch this kind of thing forever. (Plus, bonus BioShock Infinite reference.)
