This is an excellent time of year in the Northern Hemisphere to contemplate our ancestors and other beloved folks who have crossed over. The Ancestral Connection Sigil is designed to aid you in making contact and helping you to commune with the deceased. It especially crafted with the goal of bringing wisdom from our ancestors into the future. In this, we are taking care/being more aware to not repeat their mistakes that may lead to harmful cycles, and to heal relationships when possible.
The Crafting of the Sigil
On Tuesday, October 19th a group of folks from around the world gathered together virtually for another one of my Sigil Witchery workshops. In every presentation of this workshop, the students and I work together to co-create a sigil. This activity allows everyone to see the process come together before their eyes. We collectively decide on a focus and then work on the sigil together. Once done, I refine the drawing and it gets posted here on this blog. What you see below is a screenshot of the virtual workshop “whiteboard.” Students helped to decide what the sigil would be, what elements go into it, and what marks, shapes, and symbols represent each of those ingredients.
Design-wise, the arrow is rooted in the past and points to the future. The arrow pieces the wavy line that represents the veil (our perception of this world meeting the next.) The veil connects the elements of protection, growth, vision, and clarity. At the crossroads of the veil and arrow, we find the heart which fosters healing and understanding. The x’s and +’s accentuate the elements and create a sense of both liminal space and connection.
What’s Built Into This Sigil:
- connection, reading through the veil safely (per the user’s perception and understanding of the veil)
- drawing wisdom and strength from the ancestors to bring forward into the future
- aid in personal growth
- building community growth
- providing vision and clarity
- healing and understanding
- release from perpetuating harmful cycles

Suggestions On How To Use This Sigil:
You are welcome to use this sigil however you see fit that is in alignment with the intent of the sigil.
Suggestions for use:
– Use in meditation and ritual when honoring the deceased, the beloved and mighty dead, etc.
– Apply to a candle (white, black, red, or silver, follow your intuition) or place near/on a container of incense that has been blended to honor the dead.
– Add to your ancestral/Hallows/Samhain altar
