Siggy has two huge posts up already, today, and they are both must-reads.

Bobby Kennedy, the Beatles and Princess Diana actually builds on a piece I’d written over a year ago about the caliber of our current flock of politicians, but it moves beyond my point, and takes a rather grim view of the future of America given the politicians in place and the climate being embraced; it’s an important read.

Sharon, Jihad and the Bigots at the Dance, well, that’s self-explanatory:

If you think it was only Jews that suffered when the Palestinians were left to their own devices, think again. While much has been made of Israeli treatment of Palestinians, there is a reality. When the Israelis entered Jerusalem, they found the few Christian schools forced to teach the Quran. The found unreliable electricity, no decent schooling (girls were forbidden to go to attend classes), virtually no health care and a non existent economy.

The Israelis provided to the Palestinians- the very ones who tried to destroy the ancient and proud history with deliberate malice- schools and universities, health care, sanitation, electricity, an economy and an infrastructure they had never known. Many Palestinians openly acknowledge that truth. Daniel Pipes has an interesting article called “The Hell of Israel is Better Than the Paradise of Arafat.”

In point of fact, the Israeli ‘occupation’ is the most benign occupation in history. Notwithstanding Palestinian statements to the contrary, the Israelis have proved themselves to be remarkably inept at ethnic cleansing- so inept, that the Palestinian population has just about doubled since 1967- as have services provided to the Palestinians by the Israelis.

You’ll want to read them both.
