Ezra Levant fighting the good fight

Ezra Levant fighting the good fight January 15, 2008

Little Green Footballs links to videos of newspaper publisher Ezra Levant answering for the apparent “crime” of daring to publish political cartoons denigrating Islamic terrorists. Watch the tapes, they’re important.

Vanderleun has more:

“It is my hope that this matter is not dismissed. I hope I appear in front of the fascist thug on the panel, and I hope she’s having an angry day. I hope that she convicts me and sentences me.

“Then I will take this junk out of the “Human Rights Commission” and into real court where 800 years of common law and the charter rights will come to my aid. Where we won’t have hearings where reporters are not allowed in, where my defense team is limited to one person.

“I reserve maximum freedom to be maximally offensive, to hurt feelings as I wish. What should exculpate me. My rights as a free man should.” — Ezra Levant

The Nose on Your Face lionizes Levant links to links to his defense fund.

The Canadian Human Rights Commission needs to be challenged as it is challenging free speech, free expression, and raising the ugly specter of “thought crime.”

More on this subject from Margaret Cabaniss.

Just for the record, it’s not the rightwing or the Libertarians that are trying to suppress the freedom of the press, neither in Canada nor in America – nor, for that matter, in Italy. Don’t forget it, when you hear the right being called fascists and worse.

Slightly O/T, but I have to link because my jaw dropped, just dropped, to read this stuff on Huckabee. Never liked him. Like him even less, now.
