If it's Monday… 2017-03-16T19:11:36+00:00

If it’s Monday, I am hopefully sleeping in and then facing a leisurely breakfast before walking around looking at stuff. I am also probably being featured at Pajamas Media, either here or I might be easier to find here.

The title of my piece may be “‘One Good Thing’ Can Save Your World,” or it may not be. That was the title I wrote it under, but I had encouraged the folks at PJM to use a better title, if they could think of one.

An excerpt:

Recently, I have asked rabid Bush-haters if they could manage to say “one good thing” about the president. Predictably, they cannot.

They are capable of sarcasm – “one good thing is he will die some day. One good thing is that he can’t serve three terms.” Once, when pressed, someone sneered: “he managed to marry a librarian who could read and explain books to him.”

It’s not about the left hating President Bush, though. It’s about how we all hate each other too, too easily, and what that makes of us all.

Note, I’m not using the royal “we,” or the editorial “we.” Nor, “them.” “We” is “us” looking at our fellow Americans and busily dehumanizing them into “they’s,” until we have misidentified the enemy.

Was it Pogo who said “we have met the enemy, and he is us?”
