Good to hear John Fogarty’s voice, in this video by Moe Lane, who writes, “Congratulations, Democrats, you’re ‘the man,’ now.” (h/t Instapundit)

Here, after all, is the guy who was going to find the middle, moderate way on issues, who was going to be bipartisan, whose administration would be utterly transparent, who would never kowtow to special interests, who would never mislead the public and who would be utterly, wholly accountable for his actions. As short a period as he has been in office, he has managed to betray all the above.
The moderate way he promised us has translated into the biggest single dose of leftist, governmental overreach seen in decades — break-the-bank spending in a pork-ridden, ineffective stimulus bill, a takeover of the auto industry, an incredible projected jump in the deficit and debt, regulatory ambitions of a major kind and efforts to extend the welfare state beyond the reach of sense or need through health-care restructuring.
The Republicans won’t cooperate, he says, meaning that they are so far refusing to march in this parade headed for European-style semi-socialism. The Republicans offer no alternative, he says. They have offered plenty.
It’s difficult to be the party in charge of everything, particularly when you’ve built your careers and party identification on being nothing but criticism, and game-playing, but now must endure a little scrutiny (very little) and take not only the credit, but the blame.
The Recession is Over!: Okay, but it seems to be a bit of a jobless recovery. Ed Morrissey writes:
We had a flurry of federal spending and consumer behavior predicated on highly temporary government interventions, like Cash for Clunkers and the homebuyer tax credit. That may be enough to make the administration look good for the next three months, but only for that long if they don’t stimulate real investment instead of using these gimmicky programs. If we have a double dip recession after these gimmicks end, Barack Obama won’t have George Bush to kick around any longer on the economy. He’ll own it after this.
Indeed, he will, but if growth cannot be sustained (and it won’t be with the coming tax increases, which include the end of the evil Bush tax cuts, in January of 2010) I’m sure he’ll still find a way to blame Bush.
Also, this is just interesting, and has been hanging in my tab bar for a few days. interesting.
And, no, I’m not going to submit to guilt over taking a hot shower. My life is not exactly extravagant as it is.
