The Anchoress
Once, when my kids were very small, we were at the beach with several families. One little boy and I were digging in sand, when the tide came up from behind us with a surprising, chilly force. He and I simultaneously gasped and looked up at each other, and then laughed with real joy. It was one of those moments, and a sweet memory I cherish.
