Not a charge to be made lightly. Maybe I am misreading this.
In retrospect, it’s clear the Plame and Wilson pulled off a monumental deception, with the help of the media. The facts suggest that Plame and her husband were determined to undermine the Administration’s Iraq policy and were prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to accomplish that. Together with their media allies, they created such a firestorm over the naming of Plame that the White House panicked into seeking a special prosecutor.
While it is clear that Plame and Wilson were working together, “conspiring” if you will – she got him the gig, he lied about it to protect her – this article seems to me to strongly suggest a conscious attempt to undo a major foreign policy.
I wonder if Fitzgerald’s lengthy and confusing investigation is nosing around a charge of treason for someone. After all, a few weeks ago, some Democrats were saying Karl Rove was “guilty of treason.” Perhaps treason is the story, after all?
Hey, I’m just asking!
