You’ll note there is an ad running in the right hand sidebar for the book Extraordinary Circumstances; The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower by Cynthia Cooper, who was on of Time Magazine’s people of the year in 2002.

From the press release:

In June 2002, Cynthia Cooper, Vice President of Internal Audit at WorldCom, made a decision that would reveal the largest fraud in US corporate history. Cooper discovered that WorldCom’s crafty accounting methods turned a $662 million dollar loss into a $2.4 billion profit for the company. Standing by her ethical values. Cooper released a report that exposed the fraud, unleashing a firestorm of investigation, media coverage and accusations. The repercussion were enormous and in the months that followed, Cooper faced extreme personal and professional challenges, having to face the fact that by reporting her findings she triggered a remarkable fallout.

I remember being much too interested in the aftermath of 9/11 (and so over-saturated with Enron coverage) to pay much attention to the 2002 “Whistleblowers of the Year.” Since I am quite sick of (and bored with) this political season, I think this might be a good time to catch up on this story. Looks good.
