Prayer Is Indeed Powerful

Prayer Is Indeed Powerful October 26, 2011

In case you thought that there was nothing to the power of prayer, think again.  Prayer can be very, very powerful.  And if you substitute your meds with prayer, there’s a very good chance that the power of prayer will help to kill you.

At least that’s what happened in one evangelical Christian community when a preacher told HIV-positive congregants that prayer would cure them (as reported by the BBC):

At least three people in London with HIV have died after they stopped taking life saving drugs on the advice of their Evangelical Christian pastors.

The women died after attending churches in London where they were encouraged to stop taking the antiretroviral drugs in the belief that God would heal them, their friends and a leading HIV doctor said.

I usually have a quip at the end of a post like this.  Out of respect for the dead I will refrain.
