First Casts Are Done!

First Casts Are Done! September 13, 2019

Peter had his first casts put on his legs and feet on Wednesday. He did great, all things considered. He wore his new Lightning McQueen headphones (a gift from a generous friend) and watched Scooby Doo in the iPad during the casting. He protested a little bit, but all in all he was a trooper about it.

Just like his mama, his favorite color is blue, so that’s the color he chose for his first casts.

He’s been able to manage the wheelchair pretty well, and so far getting him dressed and on/off the toilet hasn’t been as difficult as I feared. He went back to school on Thursday and did really well, according to his teachers.

The first night went okay, mainly because we were both exhausted from the events of the day, but last night was pretty rough. He had a hard time getting comfortable. I ended up sleeping with him because he was so upset, and he kept accidentally whacking me with his casted legs. Ouch! Here’s hoping tonight goes better.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who sent us a gift from his Amazon wish list. Thanks to your generosity, he has a new toy and a new book for each round of casting, plus some surprises once he wakes up from his surgery! In the picture above, he’s holding his new Miss Fritter toy (he’s so thrilled with it that he hasn’t let it out of his sight since Wednesday. It has even gone to school with him!).

His doctor is out of town next week, so he gets his next round of casts on September 25. Thank you again for the prayers, good wishes, and gifts!
