Today is a momentous day. The Supreme Court will decide whether Hobby Lobby, a business run by a strong Christian family, has to provide health care that covers abortifacient drugs.
No matter what happens in this case, here are several things to keep in mind.
1. God is sovereign over all things.
2. Even if the Court finds against Hobby Lobby, I for one doubt that the company is finished.
3. If the Court does find against the chain, then you better believe the Strachan family is upping their shopping at it.
4. This is not likely to be the last case in which basic religious freedoms, long held dear in this country, are challenged. Knowing this, Christians are fully justified in both trusting the Lord to work out his perfect will and in using all the privileges of our American citizenship in fighting for justice (see Paul in Acts 22).
5. Our true citizenship is not in any earthly country. It is in heaven (Phil. 3:20).
May God grant grace to Hobby Lobby and to his people today.
