You can log in, but you can never leave. That is exactly how I feel about Facebook. My entire life for the last 9 years has been slowly integrated to need to log in to Facebook to know what is going on in the world around me. There was a good solid 3 years that I never logged out at all. Ever. Before I go on this long rant, let me state that there are great things that Facebook has... Read more

You know how I said that I used to think I knew everything about parenting? Well, this is something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately because I see people online all the time talking about how shitty other parents are. Whether it be about vaccines (oh lawd I said that word on my blog, I’m sure there will be a party of crazy in my combox later), food choices, parenting styles, spanking, or any other of the million... Read more

On Sunday I wrote a blog post abut how I didn’t see how God is ever on my side and today He reminded me of all the ways that He has been on my side my entire life, even when I was refusing to give one crap about His rules and regulations. How He gave me the Grace to survive the worst things that can happen to a person and how He gave me great people in my life to... Read more

When I was younger I went to a Baptist Church. I really did come to know the truth about God and salvation there, but I never felt like I fit in or like I was doing the Christian thing right. I was 11 years old quoting Scripture like a street evangelist. I would carry my bible around with me telling people about the fires of hell waiting for those who didn’t give their lives to Jesus. Other kids were collecting... Read more

I have been a mother since I was 16 years old. I have given birth to four kids, miscarried one child and been the step-mother to three. I now have two grandchildren and I’m almost 40 years old. This is what I have learned about mothering/parenting children: I have no effing clue what I’m doing. There are a lot of factors that made me think I was a horrible mother. I did a lot of things that weren’t things responsible... Read more

At the heart of Risen is a conversion story. There are a lot of conversion stories in the New Testament that I can identify with but Clavius is really my spirit animal apparently. I love his story. He was in charge of making sure that the body of Christ was guarded from being stolen and then when that didn’t work out well, he was put in charge of finding out what happened. In a lot of ways, Clavius was... Read more

So I wrote this blog post the other day, some of you may have read it.… the combox has 105 comments in it as of now. That is a crazy combox. I have read some of the comments and if I am going to be truly honest, I am so honored to be defended by pro-choicers who understood that I am 1. not a loser and 2. still against abortion. If there is one thing that makes putting myself the... Read more

** I don’t know why Patheos is running this blog post today when it’s so old and I’ve written a lot of other things since I wrote this, including a lot of posts about my son and grieving the loss of his life by suicide. But they are. I need to edit and clarify some points on this post and I haven’t done so because my son’s suicide derailed my life. I will get to that ASAP though.... Read more

Grief is such a bitch. That’s the only way that I can describe it. In therapy last week I emotionally vomited on my therapist about my uncle’s death. I also talked to Jennifer Fulwiler about it on her show. The two talks were a bit different and frankly, ya’ll all should thank my therapist because if it wasn’t for her, my therapy session would have been what you heard on Jen’s show. That would not have been pretty. My faith... Read more
